چکیده

Porous asphalt (PA) mixtures are more environmentally friendly but have lower durability than dense-graded mixtures. Additives can be incorporated into PA to enhance their mechanical strength; however, they may compromise the hydraulic characteristics, increase total cost of pavement, and negatively affect environment. In this paper, were produced with 5 different types additives including 4 fibers 1 filler. Their performances compared reference containing virgin bitumen polymer-modified bitumen. The performance all mixes was assessed using: mechanical, hydraulic, economic, environmental indicators. Then, Delphi method applied compute relative weights for parameters in multi-criteria decision-making methods. Evaluation based on distance from average solution (EDAS), technique order preference by similarity ideal (TOPSIS), weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS) employed rank additives. According results obtained, aramid pulp displayed comparable and, some such as abrasion resistance, even better bitumen, whereas cellulose fiber demonstrated best regarding sustainability, due economic benefits.

Performance Improvement of Porous Asphalt Mixtures using Crumb Rubber and Steel Slag Powder

In recent decades, porous asphalt has been extended for surface drainage in various regions throughout the world. The permeability of porous asphalt has an important role in the performance of asphalt pavements in the rainy weather. The most remarkable problem related to the porous asphalt is its short service time. Considerable efforts have been made to enhance the mechanical properties of por...

MODELING OF FLOW NUMBER OF ASPHALT MIXTURES USING A MULTI–KERNEL BASED SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINE APPROACH

Flow number of asphalt–aggregate mixtures as an explanatory factor has been proposed in order to assess the rutting potential of asphalt mixtures. This study proposes a multiple–kernel based support vector machine (MK–SVM) approach for modeling of flow number of asphalt mixtures. The MK–SVM approach consists of weighted least squares–support vector machine (WLS–SVM) integrating two kernel funct...

Evaluating the Effect of Lucobit on Moisture Susceptibility and Mechanical Performance of Bitumen and Asphalt Mixtures

The use of polymer in hot mix asphalt production has remarkably in recent decades. Destruction due to moisture in hot mix asphalt is of basic matters about flexible pavement durability. In recent decades different ways have been used to evaluate moisture Sensitivity of HMA which some of them are simple with low cost and some are complicated with more reliable results. In this research the effec...

Evaluation of the Mechanical Properties of the cement treated Cold-in-Place Recycled Asphalt Mixtures

Cold-in-place recycling (CIR) is an environmentally sustainable alternative for preservation of asphalt pavements. A major disadvantage of this practice is the lower strength of the cold-in-place mixtures. Addition of cement into this type of mixture is a method for increasing its bearing capacity. The effect of cement content on the mechanical properties of the cold-in-place recycled asphalt m...
